Cat Nation and All Stars take lead in intramural hoops

Editor’s Note: This update of the BCTC intramural teams reflects league play up through March 21.

The BCTC intermural basketball league has started off with a bang with two teams that are undefeatable and four teams that are over .500. Cat Nation and the All Stars have each distanced themselves with the rest of the pack having a record of 7-0. Since these teams seemed to be the real deal, I wanted to go and see them play in action on Wednesday,. I left impressed. Continue reading

Dubstep: A new kind of music

If you are a music lover, like most people, and are open to listening to new types of music, you should give dubstep a swing. Dubstep is a newer type of music that is made by DJs from a computer system. It is a broad sounding music genre because people who produce it can use their computer to make exclusive sounds in their songs. Famous dubstep DJs like Deadmau5, Rusko, Doctor P, Skrillex, and Flux Pavilion feature bass drops, unique drum rhythms and the occasional vocals in almost every one of their songs. Dubstep has a fast-paced beat, or builds up to one, and has beeping and winding-like sounds. If you enjoy upbeat styles of music, or music such as electronica, you will most likely love this danceable genre of music. Continue reading

WiFi limits

Student internet access on Cooper Campus is not easy

Connecting to the internet with personal laptops is irritating at the Cooper campus. The other day I tried to upload homework which I had just finished on campus, but I couldn’t connect to the internet with my laptop computer. Because I didn’t carry a flash drive, I had to go to the open lab and re-type the whole data again. Then I was able to upload the file.
Seeing that lots of students work with laptop computers on campus, I wondered, do they have the same experience as me? So I asked one of the laptop users if she was bothered with the difficult connection to the BCTC network. She answered “Yes, of course.” Continue reading
